Russian press on Armenia’s withdrawal from CSTO and Tavush villages cession

In a conversation with NEWS.ru, Igor Korotchenko, the editor-in-chief of the National Defense newspaper, said that every country in the region, i.e., Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkey and Iran, should join to prevent Armenia from becoming a Western influence platform.

“Now, the U.S., the EU and France have the intention to turn Yerevan into a “Trojan horse”, through which they can cause a new wave of instability, provoke new armed conflicts and, ultimately, plunge the region into chaos,” the expert noted.

Svobodnaya Pressa, in turn, wrote that Pashinyan is clearly getting ready for Armenia’s exit from the CSTO. In that case, Russia will meet the threat of losing an important military base in Gyumri. At the same time, Armenia is not going to withdraw from the EAEU. Relations with the Russian economy are extremely important for Yerevan.

Politnavigator writes that dramatic events are developing in Armenia regarding the cession of four villages of Tavush Province to Azerbaijan. “Actually, we are witnessing how the second act of the play is being put on, when in the wake of the cession of Artsakh, the ancestral lands of Armenians, under the guise of border delimitation, are going to Baku without war,” reads the article.
