French surgeon found guilty of sexually abusing hundreds of children

A former French surgeon, accused of sexually abusing 299 people, has been sentenced to a maximum of 20 years in prison, the BBC reports.

Former surgeon Joel Le Scouarnec has admitted sexually abusing hundreds of patients, mostly children, between 1989 and 2014.

The court said the former surgeon had especially sought out unwell, vulnerable, and sedated victims.

Le Scouarnec, 74, has been dubbed France’s most prolific pedophile.
