EU not to extend financial aid to Ukraine yet; talks to be held in January

The EU leaders agreed on Thursday to start accession talks
with Ukraine but failed to overcome Hungary’s opposition to extending a €50
billion aid package for Kyiv.

The talks went on overnight, but the 26 member states failed
to overcome resistance from Orbán, who has close ties with Russia.

Reuters reports the EU leaders will continue talks in
January.
