Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced the doubling of electricity prices in the country, the Financial Times reports, citing Mitsotakis.
It was noted that electricity prices had risen in August from €60 per megawatt hour to €130 per MWh. According to the Greek politician, a key driver had been Russia’s attacks against Ukraine’s grid, as well as a “prolonged crisis” of capacity.
Mitsotakis said that Brussels should immediately address the issue and take up the task of pushing through more cross-border capacity. He called on President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen to contribute to this.
