Turkish goods arrive in Israel labeled ‘Palestine’ then changed to ‘Israel’
Metin Cihan, a journalist for the Turkish opposition newspaper Gazete Duvar, made a post on a social media account about Turkish-Israeli trade and economic relations. The journalist notes that trade and economic relations continue between the two countries. He mentioned in detail how and by what mechanism it is organized. According to him, after leaving the customs office of Turkey, Palestine is marked on the product, and on the way, it is changed to Israel.
The ship arrives at an Israeli port, and the cargo is handed over to the Israeli buyer. A commission is paid to a company established in Palestine for this work. The journalist noted that bilateral trade continues with this mechanism, despite the fact that Turkey’s Ministry of Trade announced that trade relations between the sides will be completely suspended.
A few months ago, Turkey’s Ministry of Trade issued a statement stating that from May 2, export and import transactions between Turkey and Israel will be suspended.
