Lavrov: In any relationship, there are issues that require solutions

Moscow and Yerevan advocate for open and honest bilateral dialogue and will discuss their concerns, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said during a press conference following negotiations with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.

“Today, Ararat Samvelovich and I agreed that we will continue to speak candidly and honestly with each other—as we did in previous meetings—about the concerns that Armenia has regarding Russia and those that Russia has regarding Armenia. We will also try to take measures to prevent the media space from being exploited by those with ill intentions toward our countries to complicate normal working relations,” Lavrov noted.

“I reiterate that we fully understand the necessity for open and honest dialogue, and our leaders are an example for us. I am convinced that this is the right path, and I believe my colleague agrees with this,” the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry added.

As Lavrov pointed out, he does not know of a country with which relations are clear. “Imagine that we have clear relations with country X. Well, there is no such thing; in any relationship, there are issues that require solutions, and the closer the countries and peoples are, the richer their cooperation is across all areas—political, security, economic, humanitarian, and cultural; the richer the relations, the more practical issues there will be,” Lavrov noted.
