The US and Ukraine are coming to an agreement again: What has Zelenskyy offered Trump?
Kyiv is ready to offer U.S. President Donald Trump Ukrainian mineral resources and underground gas storage facilities in exchange for security guarantees, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an interview with Reuters.
“Let’s do a deal. The Americans helped the most, and therefore the Americans should earn the most,” Zelenskyy noted.
The Ukrainian president drew attention to the fact that he offers mutually beneficial cooperation in the development of mineral resources, rather than transferring them to the United States. Additionally, Kyiv is engaged in a dialogue with Washington regarding the use of underground gas storage facilities in Ukraine for the storage of American liquefied natural gas.
On Feb. 4, Trump announced he was ready to continue supporting Ukraine if Kyiv gave Washington access to rare-earth minerals. According to him, the Ukrainian side has already expressed its readiness for such an agreement. The issue is being discussed amid the suspension and subsequent resumption of U.S. arms supplies to Kyiv, as well as disagreements within the US presidential administration over the volume of aid.
