Putin: In the event of the surrender of Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region, we guarantee their safety and dignified treatment

The Russian side got acquainted with the proposal from U.S. President Donald Trump regarding sparing the lives of Ukrainian soldiers encircled in Russia’s Kursk region, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

“We have taken note of today’s appeal by U.S. President Mr. Trump, calling for the preservation of the lives of Ukrainian military personnel, some of whom are currently surrounded by Russian forces in the Kursk region’s invasion zone. In order to effectively implement Mr. Trump’s appeal, it is necessary for Ukraine’s leadership to issue an order instructing its troops to lay down their arms and surrender. If they do so, we guarantee their safety and dignified treatment. We would like to draw attention to the fact that Ukrainian forces have committed numerous crimes against civilians in the invasion zone. Under Russian law, such actions are classified as terrorism,” Putin stated.
