WCC and CEC call on EU to take steps toward ending Artsakh blockade and human rights protection

The World Council of Churches (WCC) and Conference of
European Churches (CEC) published an open letter to High Representative of the
Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, expressing their
deep concern about the humanitarian situation in Artsakh caused by the
Azerbaijani blockade. General secretaries of the organizations noted that
international organizations need to exert maximum effort at persuading
Azerbaijan to respect the orders of the International Court of Justice to
immediately lift the blockade of Artsakh by reopening the Lachin Corridor.

“The current humanitarian crisis in Artsakh caused by the
Azerbaijani blockade manifests itself in the disconnection of food, medicine,
electricity, and fuel supplies, thus seriously affecting the lives and living
conditions of 120,000 people, including children,” reads the letter.
