Greek Foreign Minister: Greece is going to support a project, aiming to finance the displaced persons from Artsakh

Armenia is an important part of Europe, and we can work well toward the relations between the EU and Armenia. We believe that the Armenian people can prosper only by being with Europe. Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis said this today at a joint press conference with the Armenian foreign minister.

“We cooperate closely and constructively with Armenia, both with regional and international organizations. We will stand ready to support the Armenian government and the people of Armenia. I think it is very important that we continuously emphasize the European perspective on Armenia. We do this not only for the sake of Armenia — to improve the prosperity level of the Armenian people; this is important for Europe as well. Greece is soon going to support a project, aiming to finance the displaced persons from Artsakh. This, in particular, refers to housing issues,” the Greek foreign minister said.

Giorgos Gerapetritis noted that the steps toward the protection of cultural attractions are of paramount importance.

“We are going to run a campaign not only with the EU institutions, but also with UNESCO. We agree that the Christian heritage of buildings in Nagorno-Karabakh should be preserved, and we want UNESCO’s fact-finding mission to be established there to reveal the damages. We believe that the Armenian people can prosper only by being with Europe,” Gerapetritis said.
