Hajiyev says ‘Zangezur Corridor’ could open soon, enabling direct travel between Istanbul and Baku

Azerbaijani president’s aide Hikmet Hajiyev has expressed confidence that the “Zangezur Corridor” will open in the near future.

The Azerbaijani official made the remarks in an interview with CNN Türk.

According to Hajiyev, Azerbaijan has almost completed its part of the project. He said that Turkey is continuing the construction of a new railway line from Kars, while Armenia, together with the United States, has committed to building a 42-kilometre section.

“If everything is completed, free movement between Istanbul and Baku will be possible in the near future,” Hajiyev said.
