Around 6:00 a.m. on May 2, the police illegally used force against the residents of Kirants who had been keeping the Armenia-Georgia highway closed and obstructing the so-called “mine action” in the area of Kirants.
Through the use of disproportionate force, about three dozen people were taken to the Ijevan police department. There were also minors among those arrested.
We call on our compatriots to continue the protest of peaceful disobedience in all provinces of the Republic of Armenia in response to this brutal and illegal police operation, and thereby express their support and solidarity with our compatriots waging a just struggle for their homeland and their homes.
