The official trade turnover between Armenia and Iran has increased from $200 million to $700 million, Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Mehdi Sobhani said in an interview with Iranian news agency SNN.
“We have always had good relations with Armenians and Armenia, and they are only improving,” the ambassador noted. He expressed satisfaction that the countries signed an agreement on the construction of the Agarak-Kajaran road. A number of small and large projects worth $36 million have been completed. Sobhani cited the development of the Meghri customs house as an example.
According to him, the official trade turnover between Armenia and Iran has increased from $200 million to $700 million. Last summer, the gas and electricity exchange agreement was extended until 2030. The third power transmission line between Iran and Armenia will be ready soon. Gas exports from Iran to Armenia will be doubled.
He noted that Tehran supports the territorial integrity of Armenia and Azerbaijan, the ongoing negotiations between the countries, and is against the change of international borders or any geopolitical change in the region.
