Four years ago, Azerbaijan, with the support of Turkey, Israel and other countries, launched a large-scale attack on Artsakh and the Republic of Armenia. Samvel Shahramanyan, the president of the Republic of Artsakh, said this at Yerablur military pantheon.
“Our Armed Forces, our people received that blow and today we pay tribute to our martyrs. I consider that with the results of the 44-day war, the beginning of determining the fate of Artsakh has been set, and I consider what happened in 2023 to be its consequence,” he said.
Shahramanyan also spoke about the guilty parties. “Many criminal cases have been brought in the Republic of Armenia; a relevant Investigative Commission operates, which will probably issue the conclusions in the near future and we will draw appropriate conclusions,” Shahramanyan said.
“We were in a difficult situation in September 2023; I have stated several times that I assumed that duty and that responsibility, when almost everyone from Artsakh had given up, and the decision was made based on the situation,” Shahramanyan said in response to the journalists’ question as to why he agreed to assume the post of president in recent days?
According to Shahramanyan, his candidacy was discussed in the last few days, and he did not avoid responsibility.
