Zakharova: The West is trying to create chaos in the South Caucasus

Russia and Azerbaijan actively cooperate in all spheres, based not only on the development of bilateral relations, but also on the importance of settling regional issues, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova told the Azerbaijani media on the margins of the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS member states in Moscow.

“We can see the great desire of the countries of the West—NATO—to fish in troubled waters and, before that, to stir that water. I think that Baku, as well as other countries of the region, know this well,” Zakharova said.

He noted that the countries of the South Caucasus should make sure that “the destabilization observed in different parts of the world does not spread in our common region.”

“This region has suffered a lot; it has gone through many conflicts and bloody, brutal wars, which have left scars in the hearts of people of different nations. Therefore, whoever wants to come with peace and help, they will be welcome. And those who have a knife in their pocket, must leave our region. We have made so many efforts together to preserve peace in this region,” Zakharova concluded.
