Pashinyan: Yerevan is ready to sign the agreed-upon draft peace treaty with Baku this month

Armenia is ready to sign the agreed-upon draft “peace treaty” with Azerbaijan already this month, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in Moscow during the meeting of the leaders of CIS countries.

“At this stage, we have to make a decision on those fundamental issues that can be a solid basis for the establishment of peace between our countries. We must be ready for that process,” Pashinyan said.

He noted that it is a matter of mutual recognition of each other’s territorial integrity, the obligation not to have territorial claims against each other and not to present such claims in the future.

“It is a matter of maintaining the principle of non-use of force and threat of force, non-interference in each other’s internal affairs, the establishment of diplomatic relations, and the creation of bilateral mechanisms for the fulfillment of the obligations assumed by the parties under the peace treaty,” Pashinyan said.

According to him, the wording of all these issues has already been agreed upon in the draft agreement “on the establishment of peace and interstate relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan”. “We are ready to sign that document already this month, and that is our official stance,” he stated.
