Expert on Azerbaijani Studies: Azerbaijan criticizes and threatens the Armenian Apostolic Church

The Azerbaijani and Turkish official media are flooded with news about the events taking place in Armenia. The movement led by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan has been targeted by the enemy as well.

According to the Azerbaijani and Turkish media, the two countries have announced that they are ready to send a limited number of troops to Armenia to, as they put it, support the “legitimate and just” authorities of Armenia. The enemy countries have expressed their readiness to support the police forces of Armenia and, as they put it, to clean the square from anti-government elements.

Expert on Azerbaijani Studies Aram Poladyan says he sees threats in the enemy’s rhetoric.

“I consider it dangerous that at the beginning of the year, the Azerbaijani official media started a campaign against the Armenian Church, saying that it interferes in political affairs. They began to spread articles saying that the Armenian Church is carrying out terror acts and that there are many terrorists among its members who pose a threat to the Republic of Azerbaijan. In response to these statements, I should say that it is the Armenian Church that preaches reconciliation exclusively but will never tolerate international terrorism,” Poladyan said in an interview with ABCmedia.

According to him, the enemy not only talks about its terrorist attacks, but also claims that they should have a continuous character.

“They are threatening that they will not tolerate it if Armenia gets armed, and at the same time, they are criticizing the activities of the Armenian Apostolic Church, calling them acts of terrorism,” the expert noted.
