Analysis: The meeting between Erdoğan and Aliyev in Nakhijevan and its anti-Armenian messages

Turkish President Erdoğan arrived in Nakhijevan today.
There, he is going to discuss a number of issues of strategic significance with
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

An elaborate ceremony to welcome the “sultan” was performed.
Aliyev, who enjoys Erdoğan’s confidence and is trying to clear his debts to the
detriment of his own country’s sovereignty, was waiting for him on the red
carpet with a loyal smile on his face.

Before Erdoğan would step off the plane, the Azerbaijani
national media had already started to present the public with the significance
and chief purpose of the visit.

As noted by them, a number of issues were going to be
discussed during the meeting, namely the pressing need for the urgent opening
of the “Zangezur corridor”, the opening of the Iğdır-Nakhijevan gas pipeline,
the increase of the Turkish military presence in the autonomous republic and
the strengthening of military-political relations between the two states.

It is noteworthy that in the live broadcasts, “lectures” on
Armenophobia were being delivered; the Syunik Province being Armenian was
questioned. In fact, the only subject of the lecture was Armenians and Armenia.

It only goes to prove once again that the bilateral talks —
in fact, the monologue — do not primarily focus on economic issues. They are
aimed at Armenia, the seizure of the “Zangezur corridor” by force, and the
total depopulation of Artsakh, with which, in fact, they will achieve their
long-term goal, i.e., the withdrawal of the Russian peacekeepers from Artsakh.

In addition, the issue of the unification of all Turkic
peoples, Turkey’s pivotal role in this unity and the geopolitical, military and
economic significance of Syunik are much discussed these days.

With this in mind, we would like to mention once again that
our enemies are not going to satisfy themselves with their achievements; they
will do their best to fulfill their Pan-Turkic dreams. And the task of
preventing the fulfillment of some of these dreams once again rests on the
shoulders of the Armenian nation.
