Baku authorities assure Iran that troops’ movements are not aimed at attack

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran
Nasser Kanaani made a statement on his talks with the Armenian and Azerbaijani
authorities.

“The Armenian authorities had expressed concern about the
possibility of a new military conflict provoked by Azerbaijan. However, the Baku
authorities told us that they have no intention to mount an attack. As for the
recent movements of troops, they said that it is a regular military operation
performed in the run-up to the winter, as vehicles handle badly in mountainous
terrain.

The security along the common borders that Iran has with its
northern neighbors, is a rather delicate issue for us. We ensure the security
of our borders and continue to follow the developments in the Caucasus,” the
spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran said.
