US does not demand Iran to fully abandon uranium enrichment

U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff did not demand that Iran completely abandon its uranium enrichment program during negotiations with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Oman, The New York Times writes, citing anonymous U.S. officials.

The officials described the talks as “extensive and aimed at maintaining dialogue.” Witkoff , who led the U.S. delegation, did not propose that the Islamic Republic completely cease uranium enrichment, but rather focused on ensuring that “it is not used for weapons,” the sources told the newspaper.
