Louvre thieves try to flee to countries without extradition treaties with France
The individuals who stole jewelry from the Louvre attempted to flee to countries that do not have extradition treaties with France, the Daily Mail reports.
The report concerns the two men who were arrested yesterday while trying to fly to Algeria and Mali. They are around 30 years old and are currently in custody.
Earlier, it was reported that police are still searching for two more suspects.
The four thieves stole nine valuable pieces of jewelry worth a total of €88 million from the Louvre’s Apollo Gallery in full view of the public. The Telegraph wrote that a Louvre security employee may have helped them in the heist.
