World Cup final goes full Super Bowl with Madonna, Shakira, BTS, Tom Cruise and others
For the first time in FIFA World Cup final history, a large-scale music and entertainment show will be staged during halftime. FIFA is modeling the performance after the iconic halftime show of the Super Bowl, Euronews writes.
It was previously announced that Madonna, BTS, Shakira and Justin Bieber would perform during the inaugural World Cup final halftime show. FIFA has now expanded the lineup further in an effort to make the already Americanized show even bigger.
Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Award-winning singer and actress Jennifer Hudson will perform the US national anthem. Laura Pausini, Robbie Williams, Nicole Scherzinger and Tom Cruise will also take part in the event.
FIFA added that “fans at the stadium will have an active role to play in the show,” encouraging them to arrive at the stadium early.
The World Cup final will see either England or Argentina face off against Spain, who beat France 2-0 yesterday. The final takes place on Sunday 19 July at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
