Didier Deschamps’ side lost 2-0 to Spain in the semifinal, with French President Emmanuel Macron responding to the national team’s defeat.

“Congratulations to Spain on reaching the final. Thank you to the French national team for the players’ unwavering commitment in defending our colors. This defeat is difficult to accept, but our team is young and full of potential,” Macron wrote on social media.

France will now prepare for the third-place playoff, where they will face the loser of the England-Argentina semifinal, the outlet reports.
