Tbilisi mayor says Georgia, Ukraine were misled over NATO membership prospects

For years, NATO leadership has misled both Georgia and Ukraine by promising to admit them into the alliance without any genuine intention of doing so, Tbilisi Mayor and Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party Kakha Kaladze said.

“Throughout all these years, countries like Georgia and Ukraine have been lied to that NATO’s doors are open, but we all understand the reality. They themselves are no longer embarrassed to openly say that this is, in fact, impossible and ruled out,” Kaladze said.
