Bordyuzha: Armenia should be expelled from the CSTO

Armenia should be expelled from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) because it does not participate in its work, yet all decisions still need to be coordinated with it, former CSTO Secretary-General Nikolay Bordyuzha told RIA Novosti.

"If they suspend their participation but do not withdraw, they remain full members of the CSTO. And if they are full members, it means all decisions—which in the CSTO are made by consensus—must be taken taking their position into account. However, that position today essentially contradicts what is being done in the CSTO," Bordyuzha explained.

In his view, it would be decent for Yerevan to step down from the CSTO entirely; but if it fails to do so, Armenia should simply be expelled.

"I would expel them. They don't pay their dues, and they don't participate," Bordyuzha added.
