Lavrov calls Pashinyan’s request to sell railway concession to Armenia surprising and ‘emotional’

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has described Nikol Pashinyan’s request to sell the railway concession to Armenia as surprising and “emotional.”

According to Lavrov, the deputy prime ministers of Armenia and Russia maintain regular contact, and any issues of interest to the Armenian side can be discussed, including the situation surrounding the South Caucasus Railway, which was granted a concession to Russian Railways.

“Instead, they publicly declare that it is ‘theirs’ and that we owe them $2 billion,” Lavrov said.

“I understand that this provokes emotions among our citizens, in addition to assessments based on economic analysis. I am no exception,” he added.
