Aliev: Armenia and Azerbaijan are working to increase the volume of bilateral trade, expand its range, and establish new land transportation links 

The United Nations played no role in implementing four UN Security Council resolutions concerning the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, “so Azerbaijan independently restored its sovereignty and territorial integrity”.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said at the high-level meeting in the SCO Plus format.

Ilham Aliyev stressed the need to develop appropriate mechanisms to ensure that UN Security Council resolutions are implemented within a short timeframe.

“If this is done, it will enhance the authority of the UN and strengthen the organization’s role in conflict resolution,” the Azerbaijani president noted.

He added, that Azerbaijan and Armenia are working to increase the volume of bilateral trade.

“Together with Armenia, we are working to increase the volume of bilateral trade, expand its range, and establish new land transportation links,” Aliyev said.

The president noted that Azerbaijan is already supplying petroleum products to Armenia and facilitating the transit of goods from third countries.

According to him, a little more than a year ago, Azerbaijan and Armenia brought an end to a conflict that had lasted for more than 30 years by initialing the text of a peace agreement.

“Thus, the South Caucasus region, which had been a zone of long-standing conflicts, is turning into a zone of peace,” he noted.
