Bayramov: Although the 42-kilometer section of the “Zangezur Corridor” is considered Armenian territory, entry and exit will be carried out from Azerbaijan
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov once again used the term “Zangezur Corridor” at a joint press conference with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Baku.
“The Zangezur Corridor is of particular importance as a new route of the Middle Corridor,” Bayramov stated.
The Minister said that 95% of the work on the construction of the highway toward the border with Armenia in the main part of Azerbaijan and 75% of the railway project have been completed.
“Both projects are expected to be completed in 2027. Work on the reconstruction of the railway in Nakhichevan has now begun. A 42-kilometer section of the Türkiye-Nakhchivan railway passes through the territory of Armenia. This is part of the Zangezur Corridor. Negotiations on this are being conducted between the US and Armenia. Although this is considered Armenian territory, entry and exit will be carried out from Azerbaijan. The design work should be completed this year, while physical work will begin in 2027. It is important to complete this project. Conditions will then be created to ensure connectivity from Europe through Türkiye and Azerbaijan,” Jeyhun Bayramov noted.
