Diesel prices in Europe have hit an all-time high

The average price of diesel fuel in the European Union has reached €2.23 per liter, setting a new record. This was reported by the AFP, based on an analysis of European Commission data.

The analysis shows that, in addition to the overall record, all-time high fuel prices were recorded in 19 EU countries, including Germany, Italy, and France. Denmark and Finland have the most expensive diesel (€2.56 per liter), surpassing Germany (€2.46). They are followed by Belgium and France (€2.40 per liter), with Italy rounding out the top four, where consumers face prices of around €2.30 per liter.

Gianni Murano, president of the Italian trade association Unem—which represents major fuel suppliers and gas station operators—previously explained that high fuel prices in Europe are driven by several factors, including reduced supplies of petroleum products from Russia.
