Aliyev: A completely unprecedented new situation has emerged in the South Caucasus

A completely new situation, unprecedented in the history of the region's independent states, has emerged in the South Caucasus, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated at the opening of the 7th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue.

The Azerbaijani president highlighted the achievement of peace with Armenia as one of the positive developments.

He recalled that the peace agreement with Armenia was initialized in August of last year.

"The location where the agreement was initialed also holds great symbolic significance. It was initialized in Washington, at the White House, in the presence of U.S. President Donald Trump. In the presence of the U.S. President, the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia signed not a document on disagreements, but the text of the peace agreement. Alongside this, a Joint Declaration was signed, which the U.S. President signed as a witness," Aliyev said, emphasizing that a completely new and historically unprecedented situation has emerged in the South Caucasus for the independent states of the region.
