Agreement on EU Mission in Armenia status to be on agenda for Cabinet meeting

The government will discuss the issue of ratifying the agreement on the status of the EU Mission in Armenia. The issue will be on the agenda for the Jan. 25 Cabinet meeting.

The draft document was developed in accordance with Article 12, Part 1 of the Law of the Republic of Armenia “On International Agreements” in order to ensure the ratification of the agreement between the Republic of Armenia and the European Union on the Status of the European Union Mission in Armenia (EUMA), signed on Nov. 20, 2023. The document was drawn up by the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The draft document is intended to ratify the agreement between the Republic of Armenia and the European Union on the Status of the European Union Mission in Armenia (EUMA),  signed on Nov. 20, 2023,” reads the draft document.

As noted, the adoption of the draft document will ensure the procedures for the entry into force of the status agreement.

The agreement was signed in November 2023 between Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Paruyr Hovhannisyan and Head of EU Delegation to Armenia Vassilis Maragos. Ambassador Maragos stated that the status agreement mainly regulates issues of legal character.
