Russian Foreign Ministry: Armenia’s security is impossible without its cooperation with the CSTO
Armenia’s security, including in the military sphere, does not seem possible without its cooperation with the CSTO. Victor Vasiliev, special envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia on CSTO issues, said this in an interview to RIA Novosti.
“I cannot give you information, clearly showing that Armenia’s security, including in the military sphere, can be possible without its cooperation with the CSTO,” Vasiliev said.
The diplomat added that Russia sees attempts by Western countries to take advantage of the current state of affairs in Armenia to escalate the situation not only in Armenia, but also in the entire Caucasus.
“We use the discussions within the CSTO at all levels to draw our Armenian partners’ attention to this intentional policy pursued by Western countries,” he noted.
