Railroad employees to go on strike

Employees of the Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Français (SNCF) have announced their decision to stage a strike on Feb. 16–18 because of low wages and difficult working conditions, Midi Libre reports.

The strike will start as winter holidays begin in French schools, and SNCF is going to face a heavy passenger load.

Previously, SNCF management promised to organize a round-table discussion with trade unions in March, as well as to create an additional 200 jobs.

In the Christmas holidays of 2022, France was faced with a transport collapse because of railway strikes. More than 200,000 passengers had last-minute train cancellations. After that, the SNCF management promised to take measures to support the employees. However, the employees continue to complain.
