Successive power: Ilham Aliyev again re-elected
The dictator was re-elected president. Ilham Aliyev, who has been in the driving seat of Azerbaijan for more than 20 years, will hold power for another seven years.
It was Heydar Aliyev who ushered in the age of the Aliyevs’ power in 1993. In 2003, the power passed from father to son. Although Ilham Aliyev became a president through elections, they were far from fair or democratic.
