Lavrov says Russia ready to work with any US president

Russia will work with any elected U.S. leader who is ready for dialogue, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference following the U.N. Security Council meetings on July 17, Izvestiya writes.

“Putin has said more than once that we are ready to work with any U.S. leader who is elected by the people of the U.S. and who is ready for an equal, mutually respectful dialogue,” Lavrov said.

He said that the sanction war between Moscow and Washington started during U.S. President Barack Obama’s time in office. Under the rule of the next leader, Donald Trump, there were more economic and diplomatic restrictions, but parallel to the imposition of restrictions, there was going on between Russia and the U.S. at the highest levels. Now, as Lavrov noted, no such dialogue is taking place.
