German Chancellor Olaf Scholz wants to hold a peace conference on Ukraine with the participation of Russia in order to partially satisfy the will of his country’s population, Steffen Kotré, an MP from the Alternative for Germany party of the Bundestag, said.
“Scholz appears to have some realism in his assessment of the situation. It’s one thing to demand peace talks with the participation of Russia. But whether he will do his best for this or not is another thing,” Kotré said.
It is unlikely that the chancellor will “do his best”, taking into account that “the German government is not neutral”, the MP noted. At the same time, he emphasized that the Germans “will not stand still forever while the money for the supply of weapons is thrown out the window”.
