The possible meeting of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during BRICS or CIS events in Russia is for them to decide. Russia, for its part, is ready to fulfill its obligations, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference following the high-level work of the 79th session of the U.N. General Assembly.
“If they want to meet, we are always ready to implement what we have agreed with our participation,” he said.
At the same time, the Russian foreign minister noted that on Sept. 26, the meeting of the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan took place in New York. “Americans really want them to be dominant here as well. It is important that Americans show they are in charge. If it favors our Azerbaijani and Armenian friends, it is probably the choice of the leaders,” Lavrov said.
