Russia expresses its solidarity with the leadership and people of friendly Lebanon—which has been subjected to Israel’s armed aggression—and offers its condolences to the relatives of the victims, Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
Russia strongly condemns Israel’s attack on Lebanon and calls on the Israeli authorities to immediately stop hostilities. Russia calls on Israel to withdraw its troops from the territory of Lebanon and engage in a real search for peaceful ways to settle the Middle East conflict.
“The combined nature of the Israeli invasion with the engagement of all types of military forces gives reason to assume that the death toll will increase. It is obvious that such a step, which was taken by the military and political leadership of Israel after the assassination of a number of Hezbollah leaders, will lead to further escalation of violence in the Middle Eastern region,” Russia’s Ministry of Foreign said in a statement.
