‘Armenia will decide itself’: Kaja Kallas on Armenia’s EU membership prospects
Armenia will decide itself, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy said today in Yerevan, responding to a question from Azatutyun about the prospect of Armenia’s membership in the European Union.
“Armenia makes its own decisions. Elections are taking place here in a month, of course the European perspective is on the table, and Armenia will decide for itself,” Kaja Kallas said.
Commenting on the withdrawal of US troops from Germany, Kallas described the timing as “surprising.”
“For a long time, the withdrawal of US troops from Europe has been discussed, but this announcement at this time was surprising. It proves that we need to strengthen the European pillar within NATO and do more. US troops are in Europe not only to protect European interests, but also US interests,” she said.
