Armenia Alliance says campaign headquarters members being illegally detained and arrested
The law enforcement system has been engaged in actions aimed at obstructing the electoral process since the morning, the campaign headquarters of the Armenia Alliance said in a statement.
As noted, members of the alliance’s campaign headquarters are being illegally taken into custody and/or arrested on various grounds, including under the pretext of being questioned as witnesses.
“This shameful and unlawful conduct is not only an attempt to subject the public to information terror, but also a gross violation of electoral rights,” the statement said.
The alliance’s campaign headquarters called on observer missions and the Central Electoral Commission to record the reported incidents.
It also urged voters not to be intimidated by what it described as illegal actions and to confidently exercise their constitutional right.
“Those organizing and carrying out these unlawful acts face the strictest responsibility as provided by law,” the statement added.
