The Kremlin intends to fully clarify Armenia’s position regarding its participation in the CSTO, as this organization’s charter does not provide for such a status as “frozen membership”.
In an answer to the journalists’ question whether there is any clarity regarding Armenia’s future participation in the CSTO activities after Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s announcement about freezing membership in the organization, Spokesperson for the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said: “No, not yet. We stay in contact with our Armenian partners, and, of course, we will clarify this matter.”
“Based on the existing documents, such a regime (frozen membership) simply de jure does not exist in the CSTO Charter. We will get in contact and will clarify this,” the Kremlin spokesperson said.
