NTV TV Channel: Flirting with the West may create a rift in Armenian society

The U.S. has no vital interests in Armenia, Dr. Artur Khachikyan, an International Relations expert from Stanford University, told NTV.

According to him, NATO will not invite Yerevan to join the organization and will not ensure the security of the country in case of a potential conflict. As mentioned in the report, street clashes in Yerevan have entered a heated stage. The protesters cannot come to terms with the need for delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. As regards the impeachment process, Pashinyan has the majority in Parliament, and there are still two years before the elections, which may shift the balance. “Therefore, the prime minister is not only not going anywhere, but also seems to be in a hurry to reorient Armenia in the foreign political field. Pashinyan’s administration is now looking for new allies,” reads the NTV report.

French observer Philippe Loubier is sure that the Western countries are pulling Nikol Pashinyan toward them only to harm Russia, although this may create a rift in Armenian society.
