On behalf of U.S. O’Brien invites Armenia and Azerbaijan to NATO meeting and hopes that Mirzoyan and Bayramov will meet in Washington

The U.S. has invited Armenia and Azerbaijan to the upcoming meeting with partners ahead of the NATO summit to be held in Washington, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O’Brien, now in Baku, said.

“The U.S. has invited Azerbaijan and Armenia to a meeting with partners within the framework of the NATO summit,” O’Brien said.

This NATO event is due to be held from July 9 to July 11.

At a press briefing in Baku, O’Brien also expressed hope that the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan “will have an opportunity to meet soon.”

“If this takes place in Washington, we will be happy to receive them in the role and status that we will be able to assume. But there are other channels, and the two sides are in rather effective direct contact with each other,” he noted.
