Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko is a supporter of the idea of maintaining good relations with Armenia. He said this at a meeting with representatives of different nationalities living in Belarus.
“It would be good if we had good relations with Armenia, as before. Despite all the imperfections and nuances, believe me, it’s not our fault. We have tried to help Armenians in every possible way; we have cooperated as we would do with the closest people. But, you see, they wished to go to the West, to the EU. What kind of West?” Lukashenko said.
According to him, Belarus is not against cooperation with the West, with the Americans, “but look at their policy”. “Do you think Armenia is being waited for anywhere? No one is waiting for us, neither Armenia nor Ukraine. Everyone is busy with their own issues. And they want to solve their problems at the expense of others,” the Belarusian president noted.
Lukashenko highlighted the excellent attitude of Belarus toward the representatives of the Armenian diaspora. “You are no longer Armenians for me; you are Belarusians for me; you are part of our people,” he noted.
