Fernand Kartheiser, a member of the European Parliament from Luxembourg, sent a letter to Azerbaijani Ambassador to the EU Vagif Sadykov, expressing hope that Baku will take steps toward some of the most pressing issues, including the release of Armenian POWs and illegally detained persons ahead of COP29. The MP published the letter on X.
In his letter to the Azerbaijani ambassador, Kartheiser expressed concern about the further threat to the territorial integrity of Armenia and encouraged the Azerbaijani authorities to sign a peace treaty with Yerevan as soon as possible.
He noted that the commitment of the Azerbaijani authorities to preserve the Armenian cultural heritage of Nagorno-Karabakh would be welcome.
