Russia’s Foreign Ministry hopes Armenian partners will overcome doubts regarding CSTO

Russia’s Foreign Ministry hopes Armenian partners will overcome doubts regarding CSTO

The CSTO and the EAEU are actively developing. In particular, a number of Eurasian states show interest in the CSTO, agreeing with the importance of creating a common security area on the continent.

Against this backdrop, Yerevan’s way of withdrawing from the CSTO is against the interests of the Armenian people, Mikael Agasandyan, the director of the First CIS Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, said.

“Ultimately, there are no alternatives to the CSTO and Russia as the guarantor of the stability of Armenia. At this stage, the doors for Armenia to return to full cooperation in the CSTO are open, and the mutual obligations within the framework of the organization remain unchanged. We hope the Armenian partners, overcoming their doubts, will once again show commitment to joint work for the benefit of the strategic interests of the friendly Armenian people,” the official said.
