Shahbazi: The best way for Iran to connect to Russia and the EU is via Armenia
It is more beneficial for Iran to use the route through the territory of Armenia to establish contact with Russia, Speaking to Sputnik Armenia, Sahand Shahbazi, the deputy director for International Relations Office of Tabriz Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, said.
Now, Iran is connected with Russia and the EU through roads passing through Azerbaijan and Turkey. Meanwhile, Shahbazi notes that their drivers face customs hassles in Azerbaijan, which increases the transportation time, and the route through Turkey is costly, because the cargo is first transported to Black Sea ports, and then goes to Russia or the EU.
Shahbazi believes that the route via Armenia is more profitable for access to the Black Sea.
It became known earlier that Yerevan plans to launch a trade and transport route with Tehran and Delhi, and in the near future a tripartite meeting will be held in Iran on this issue.
