Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova commented on the call of 60 members of the U.S. Congress to put pressure on Baku ahead of COP29.
“I have the impression that American congressmen—I understand that they receive money for their international lobbying, which they do not hide—have something to do at home. This is evidenced by the monstrous revelations of child defilement. If they see their electoral positions as a business, then the U.S. Congress should be renamed the Lobbying Agency,” Zakharova said.
She noted that climate change is used by Western countries as a political lever. “Now we can see how the pressure on Azerbaijan, which hosts COP29, is increasing due to fake reasons. However, I think that putting pressure on Azerbaijan is useless. Azerbaijan has been pressured more than once with various issues,” she said.
