Vahe Hovhannisya: The person robbing us of our homeland cannot negotiate on the Artsakh issue
In his article, member of “Alternative Projects” group Vahe
Hovhannisyan referred to the statement on the Lachin corridor made at the
Cabinet meeting yesterday. The statement was about the possibility of the
one-way opening of the Lachin corridor.
“Yesterday, an abhorrent statement was uttered at the
Cabinet meeting; Plans are afoot to open the Lachin corridor in one direction.
This means nothing short of robbing us of our homeland; this is a campaign of
ethnic cleansing.
A question arises: Where is this plan being drawn up? Is it
in Azerbaijan? Then, how come you announced that you recognize Artsakh as part
of that country? Didn’t you realize that months later this was going to follow
from that statement of yours? Dozens of people have publicly warned of the
risks entailed,” he wrote.
Vahe Hovhannisyan did not rule out the possibility that
these plans are being devised by mediators, who — from a certain point — have
been constantly emphasizing the very fact that Pashinayn has recognized Artsakh
as part of Azerbaijan.
“We are on the brink of being deprived of our homeland. In
fact, it was this verbal recognition that set this process in train.
We have only one way to change the situation: to change the
logic of negotiations. This can be done, only if the dealmaker is changed. In
fact, we mean this, when we say that the key to the protection of Artsakh and
to the end of the blockade lies in Yerevan. The change of the dealmaker implies
smoothly changing the negotiation logic, averting a new war, putting the brakes
on this process,” Hovhannisyan wrote.
