Pashinyan’s two-day visit to Syunik was aimed at breaking
down the stereotypes and dispelling the fears that Nikol has. Secretary of the
NA With Honor Faction Tigran Abrahamyan made a Facebook post on this.
“The law enforcement agencies, their leadership being
at the forefront, had been up to arranging Pashinyan’s visit to Syunik for a
few days. They had made necessary arrangements so that people who had been
selected for that very occasion beforehand, would approach Pashinyan, ask him
questions and even smile at him, thus excluding the possibility of him getting
into an awkward situation,” the MP wrote.
He noted that no matter how hard the authorities are trying
to put “happy-go-lucky Syunik” before the public as the reality, it
does not solve the security problems facing Syunik.
“The new “alternative” Tatev-Aghvani-Kapan
road, that was promised to us after the cession of the Goris-Shurnukh-Kapan
road, does not operate properly even after yearly road maintenance works
carried out on it. Construction of the alternative Sisian road to the Tatev
road is impeded by constant problems that keep coming up. And these problems
will keep arising even after the road officially opens. As for Syunik airport
in Kapan and the PR about it, they were much talked about.
The airport, which is located 100 meters away from the
Azerbaijani positions, cannot guarantee its passengers safety.
They have been making promises about the new houses in
Shurnukh for three years. However, the construction is not completed yet.
